  1. Why a tryout?  Is 7V7 competitive??

7V7 is a very competitive sport that is for focused, highly motivated, talented players who want to benefit from superior coaching and training and who feel challenged competing with other focused, motivated players.  Tryouts allow us to identify the best players for our teams.

  1. What COVID-19 precautions are you taking for the tryouts?

All coaches will wear masks when interacting with your players.  All drills and skill assessments will be socially distanced.  Hand sanitization stations will be available for coaches and players.  Players will be expected to wear masks when taking breaks or not engaged in a drill.

  1. What should I bring?

Players should wear cleats, weather appropriate clothing, COVID-19 appropriate face mask, and bring a water bottle with your name on it.

  1. What time is my player's tryout?

Tryouts are held in December.  Please email us at [email protected] for specifics

Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes prior to the tryout start time to sign in and warm-up.

  1. Do I have to attend the tryouts?

You must attend one of the tryouts to be considered for placement on a team.

  1. What do you look for in a player during tryouts?

Players will be evaluated on their technical skills, Football IQ,  as well as their physical abilities.

  1. What if I am sick or injured during tryouts?

Please contact the appropriate coach/team manager and he/she will advise you on how to proceed.

  1. Can parents/guardians attend tryouts??

Yes,  however, parents/guardians will be expected to stay behind the clearly marked lines on the field.  Parents should not engage with the coaches during the assessments.  Parents will be expected to wear masks and practice social distancing.  Any infractions and you will be asked to leave the field.

  1. What if it is raining the day of tryouts?

Tryouts will be held rain or shine, unless there is lightning, high winds and/or unusually stormy conditions. Tryouts on grass fields may be rescheduled if there was continuous rainfall in the days prior.  Please check the website or email for field updates and cancellation/reschedule notices.

  1.   When will I find out if I have made a team?

We will extend offers by phone or email in the days following the conclusion of tryouts.  Once commitments have been secured, team rosters will be formed.  We do not want to pressure your family into making a commitment if your player is unsure.  We will work with you and your family, but players invited to join our 7V7 teams will be given a deadline to commit to joining the team… Usually no more than 48 hours.

 11.  When will I have to commit to the team and what happens after I commit?  I made the team, what’s next?

You will be asked to commit within 48 hours after receiving your invitation. Families of invited players will receive instructions for player registration from the team representatives.  After receiving the invitation and upon acceptance, the registration paperwork will be due along with the appropriate fees.

  12.   What days will my team practice and where?

Each team will have practice fields and days assigned. The coach will advise the team concerning the days and length of practices. Normally teams practice once or twice a week for 1.5 to 2 hours.

  13.  Are there any other costs besides the registration fees?

None are planned.  The uniform (shirt and shorts/tights) cost is included in the fees along with the anticipated league fees.  Any special tournaments that the team and the coach decide to participate in could incur an additional cost.

  14.   What if I do not make a team? Will I get feedback on how to improve my chances for the following season?

There are options available to you such as skills clinics that will be made available in 2022, to help further your development.  We encourage players who do not make a team and who want constructive feedback to contact the coaches via email at [email protected].

  15.   Can I come on a different day than the date for my grade/team?

No.  Players must attend the tryouts with the players from the same grade.  (e.g., 8th graders cannot attend the tryout for the 3/4th grade team)

  16.   When (date/times) are the 7V7 games during the winter season?

The games are on Saturdays and typically start after 1pm.  Typically, the younger teams play earlier in the day than the older teams.
